History of Kasama Castle

Era: Construction in the Kasa Era era

The history of Kasahime Castle can be traced back to the early historical period. Tatenobu, the Kasage period (1203-1265), lived in Sasa in 1205 at the foot of Mt. Fushimoto, the residence of the famous “Fushimoto Castle”, where Kasage Castle was originally founded. At first, the castle fort was built in the style of a samurai and monk who fought against Tokuzoji Temple.

Afterwards, in the year 1219, during the Kasahime period, the construction of Sabizan Sankei was completed and the fort was rebuilt as a solid fort. This is the formal formation of the Kasahige Castle, and after this, for about 380 years, the Kasahiro clan was the mainstay. During the Kasama period, the Utsunomiya clan’s members were active and played an important role in attacking the northern part of Hitachi Province.

Medieval history: the 18th residence of the Kasahime clan

The 18th generation of Kasama Castle was the residence of the Kasama clan. During the medieval period, the Kasahime clan was a local owner of the Hitachi country, and since then the Kasahime castle has been established, and the company has a strong influence.

During the period of the war, the Kasahime clan was examined, and the feudal lords of the surrounding period came to rule, and the rule was established; however, in 1590, during the Odawara period when the vassal Hideyoshi attacked, the Kasahama clan was overthrown, the Hojo clan was taken over, and the Kasahama clan was overthrown. The length of the Kasah clan is approximately 380 years.

Early modern period: Reconstruction of the imperial fort

After the overthrow of the Kasahime clan, Satonari Gamo entered the lordship of Kasahama Castle. Gamo Risei is a vassal of the Gamo clan, and has a territory worth 30,000 koku. Other modern constructions include a modern castle fort in the style of the generals, and a stone citadel and other modern constructions. At this time, the medieval earthen fort was remodeled and a modern fort with stone walls was completed.

After the construction of the most refined castle fort in the changing area of Kasage Castle, the castle was built with a strong defense system. After this, Kasahima Castle was established as a multi-state feudal lord, and was the administrative center of the Kasahama domain during the Edo period.

The Meiji era arrives

During the Edo period, Kasahima Castle was the residence of the Kasahama clan and had a total of 80,000 koku. However, due to the inconvenient transportation, the lord’s residence was located at the foot of the mountain. As a result of this, the construction of Kasahima Castle still retained its function as a fort, and the construction of Kasahama Domain’s conquest continued until the end of the Jiang Dynasty.

After the Meiji era, the Yuyu domain system was abolished, the Japanese administrative district was established, Kasama Castle was built, and many buildings were built. However, since the history of the castle river, etc. has been preserved, the history of the castle has been preserved, and the history of the castle has been preserved.

Tenshu Awa Stone Mound

The biggest highlight of Kasahime Castle is the castle tower in Usanbai. Sasaki Shrine is currently located inside the castle tower, in the center of the castle grounds. The castle tower is surrounded by a castle tower, and the stone tombs built during the Chong period of Gamo are perfectly preserved, and the natural stone walls of the eastern area are visible.

This small stone tomb is constructed using the famous “wild sculpture” technique, using natural stone materials, and is used for spectacular viewing. Although the nature of the fortifications is quite different, the most advanced fortification construction techniques are available.

Laundry and Defense Construction Bureau

The characteristics of Kasahime Castle exist in U.S.A., and the topographical structure of Mt. Sabai is skillfully utilized. Since the main castle was in the center of the mountain, the layers were divided into layers, and the walls were separated from each other. The main burial mounds include the main castle, and the second and third burial mounds.

The castle has a tower, a castle gate, a castle tower, a multilayered defense system, and an enemy invasion. The river was dug deep in the city, and the trench was dug along the mountain. Due to some minor defensive construction work, Kasaheng Castle Cheng’s troupe “Easy to defend and attack” the castle.

During the peace period, public affairs were carried out while the castle was at the foot of the mountain; during the war, it was used when the main castle at the mountain was attacked. The dual structure of this kind of mountain castle and the existing address is the typical form of medieval Xishan castle, and it is also one of the special historical expeditions of Kasaheng castle.
